[Jet Force Gemini : LS]

A hit and miss movie

First off, let me say that I own Jet Force Gemini. It is an awesome game. That being said, seeing a Jet Force Gemini movie in the portal got my attention, so I had to take a look.

The graphics were great, except for Sledge. Wtf man? He looks nothing like the JFG characters did. You got the style all wrong. And speaking of Sledge, I basically just hated the character. It totally didn't fit the style of the JFG universe. For one thing, the name is just retarded. Sledge is something I expect for a Veitnam movie soldier or something. It's too gruff and rough of a name. Then again, the character also seems that way. Juno was basically just a kid in the game (or looked like one in any case) and then you throw in some 40 year old to be the main star. Ick.

I also found it strange how at first it looked as if you were going to create your own storyline, but then blatantly copyed the original opening. We don't want a redone story, we want something fresh with old characters.

Still, amiss my hang ups with the movie, I really enjoyed most of the animation and drawings and just seeing Jet Force Gemini done at all was cool. Still, I'm thinking I should do my own tribute sometime :P I've been thinking about it. And maybe I will.

In any case, keep it up. You're quite talented.

thanks for the review man. and trust me, i understand the whole "wtf who is sledge" thing. i was prepared to face a couple of those sort of comments but you have some strong and convincing reasons behind your complaint.

first off, you are right that sledge is a bit of a "harsh" and maybe even rambo-like name for a character that's supposed to remind a dude of Juno. But, when i used to play JFG, Juno always looked a bit too bubbly-eyed and smooth-skinned for me. I mean come on, he's got a freakin tri-rocket launcher blowin human-sized ants into countless pieces, yet he still has those gleamy anime style eyes shared by pikachu and sailor moon or w.e that show was called. so i changed that when i made the movie into a slighty more badass portrayal.

in any case, i definitely see what you're saying about the character.

secondly, thanks a lot for the comments on the rest of the stuff :) again, this took me quite awhile, as i had to draw ever single little drawing of the flash (thats why im seriously considering a sprite movie as my next). really it was pretty tough to pull off, and i just wanted to give JFG some extra attention i think it should've gotten back when it was first released. thanks for the review man, oh and yeah, it would be awesome if you could make your own tribute sometime :D

I very nice tribute to Weebl and Bob. The style was perfectly matching that of Weebl himself, and all of the jokes were rather humorous. I also congratulate you on a fine job of compressing. You packed that entire song into ~300Kb, and kept the sound quality. And that's quite a feat. So yes, a job well done. Keep it up.

Graphics were very nice. I like the style. Would like to see more from you.

I might add that Experimental Film is my favorite song of all time :D (And TMBG my favorite band) So obviously I approve of the song selection. Just so happens I'm halfway working on my own movie using the song. Hopefully it'll be good enough to have people forget Homestar also did it. (Obviously, your reviewers havn't. But screw them)

So yeah, good luck with getting everyone together to do it. I'll be sure to check up on it if I can. Nice work in progress.

I'm getting confused as to why all of these other video game references are popping up though. This is becoming less and less FFish.

Oh, and that 2nd secret scene is not orginial. I know the comic from which you stole that from >:( Credit would have been nice. I didn't find the other scenes so I don't know about them...

Well, anyways, aside from all of the flashing, the graphics were actually quite well drawn. Some movies were painful to watch, others, not so bad. It's really hard to judge since you were trying to piss people off.

Anyways, not bad...not good, but not bad.

Took a while to get to it, but I suppose it was worth it. Not a bad Daily Toon, good job :)

Oh yeah, music was nice of course...overused, but still nice.
